February 2022 Discoverer’s Club Release

2020 Aitheras
Aitheras is the Greek word for pure air, which Aristotle described as the "fifth element of air in continuous, circular motion.” Similarly, we strive to consistently evolve and improve. Formerly known as Mélange Blanc, this medium-light bodied wine has perfumy white flowers and citrus aromas on the nose, along with lemon peel and a clean finish. This is a blend of 60% Vidal Blanc from Williams Gap vineyard, near Round Hill, and 40% tank fermented and aged Chardonnay from Silver Creek vineyard in southwest Virginia.

2020 Sauvignon Blanc
Notes of citrus, melon, lemon, and lime on the nose open up on the palate to a medium-bodied wine bursting with racy acidity and fruit notes like carambola, white peach, and grapefruit. It tastes like a sweet tart in a glass!

2020 Reserve Chardonnay
This wine has complexity that comes from the New World winemaking style. It was fermented in 40% new French oak, as well as more neutral French oak barrels. Seventy percent of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation. One whiff of the bouquet brings aromas of banana, a hint of cinnamon stick, and green apple that also presents on the palate.

2019 Adjacency
This red blend replaces the Cinq and L’Esprit de NoVA this year. A lightly pressed blend of 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Cabernet Franc, 16% Petit Verdot, 11% Merlot, and 9% Tannat, it has wonderful aromas of vanilla and blackberries that carry over to the palate with black plum and coffee.

2019 Piedmont Station
This Bordeaux-style blend is made with grapes sourced in the Crooked Run Valley near Delaplane Cellars. On the nose, blackberry, strawberry, and raspberry abound with caramel and vanilla, and just a hint of smoke. That smoke unfolds more on the palate along with dark fruit, cassis, vanilla, tobacco, and fresh-baked bread on a lingering finish. It is a blend of 66% Cabernet Franc, 16% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Petit Verdot, and 5% Merlot.
